I believe that patience and consistency pay great dividends in all areas of life, and should never be confused with complacency. I believe that no one can lead from a place of fear - while no skill set, vision, or well developed plan can take the place of the courage to move forward despite the challenges and obstacles that lie ahead. I believe that it is only what we do for Christ that lasts.
The Reverend Matthew Lawrence Watley serves as the Executive Minister of Reid Temple AME Church.
In 2006 Rev. Watley took on the additional responsibility of becoming the Managing Minister of Reid Temple’s North Campus, which he founded in a high school in Silver Spring, MD.
His leadership has included being a member of the General Board of the A.M.E. Church, the Richard Allen Foundation Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee of the World Methodist Council of Churches. He also served as the Chair of the African-American Denominational House Steering Committee at the Chautauqua Institute.
"I’m proud of the ministry that the Lord has allowed me to establish. My goal has been to share the changeless and loving truth of the gospel in a changing an increasingly less faith-friendly culture. I’m not good at maintenance. I am proud of being a builder whether it’s been Power Lunch, Reid Temple’s North Location, our Campuses, or just helping people inside and outside the church to reach their potential and goals," says Reverend Matthew Lawrence Watley.
